Join us for a brand-new line up of Dungeons & Dragons events geared towards kids 13 and under: welcome to Hero Academy! Every Sunday, we’ll be hosting a different 5th Edition D&D event meant for kids to learn and play with their peers, under the guidance of our talented staff and community volunteers to facilitate a fun learning environment.

All you need to bring is a pencil with an eraser and a can-do attitude. If you have your own set of polyhedral dice and a tier 1 character (1st-4th level) ready to go, that’s cool too.

Check back periodically for the next wave of events!

Upcoming adventures for Season 3:
Tier 1:
The Sunless Citadel (ongoing)
Tier 2:
Dungeon of the Mad Mage (ongoing)

So, why the price hike?

We thought long and hard about how to keep Hero Academy running going forward. We loved how the $5 price point could bring in a lot of kids who might be priced out of something like our Planeswalker Academy, and it kept things similarly priced to our Wednesday night Adventurers’ League. However, our attendance kept growing, and put too much pressure on our DM Jordan to run by herself.

In order to alleviate some of that pressure, we wanted to bring in more DMs from our wonderful D&D community to allow for more tables–and to do that, we needed to run Hero Academy at a high enough margin to pay those other DMs fairly for their work. In addition to that, we want to start running games weekly, rather than every other week, and planning and coordinating these adventures takes a lot of time behind the scenes.

To make up for the added price, we’ll be extending our hours–running from 2PM to 6PM gives each kid an extra hour to play (although of course we understand if you aren’t able to stay for the whole time). That breaks down to $5 per hour of play! The $20 price also includes a soda or water and a slice of pizza (catered by the lovely Alfredo’s Pizza located right next door!) so no need to worry about your kids getting fed.

Can I drop my kids off and leave during the Hero Academy hours?

Next-Gen Games is not a licensed childcare facility and we cannot ensure that your child stays at the Next-Gen premises. Next-Gen Games does not provide direct supervision for minors; instead, it coordinates players involved with the Hero Academy game session. As long as you keep all this in mind, you are free to drop off your children for the duration of the game.

We will collect a liability waiver from each new player before the beginning of the session, including an emergency phone number we can contact in the case of any problems.

Will you still offer Bigby’s Helping Hand credits to DM helpers?

Thanks in part to the boost from Bigby’s Helping Hand, we now have a roster of accomplished DMs to help us out from week to week. If you’re interested in helping out, please email Jordan at info@nextgenvideogames.com and include “HERO ACADEMY DM” in the subject line.
